 Wasn't a very good resource for my writing class - IMO March 13, 2010

I tried to use this in my classroom, but the way it was written was very unclear. The lesson concepts were hard to implement. The information did not seem very well researched. I would suggest going with any of Jan Richardson's books on guided reading instead. Not recommended.

This is a wonderful book, with lots of great ideas. I only received it last week and have already used and shared some of the great ideas with other teachers. I love how the author takes the think-aloud a step further and uses "graphics" or "props" to help visual learners. The DVD includes great class posters and graphic organizers that support the text. This is a resource that teachers who are real "hams" in the classroom will love, because of the use of drama and music, but any teacher no matter what her teaching style can find loads of great ideas!! Well worth the money.

This is a must-have for any teacher of reading. The ideas are WONDERFUL! They are easy to implement and the kids LOVE them! The strategies address all learning types.

Great, practical book! I am a reading specialist and I can't wait to share this great book with the teachers at my school. There are practical lessons and I love how she uses multi-sensory techniques to teach the essential comprehension strategies. This book should be on teachers' bookshelves!!
