| Editorial Reviews:
ABC News looks at everyday experiences in freaky ways based on the bestselling book, "Freakonomics". The authors of the book, Steven Levitt and Steven Dubner, have teamed up with ABC News to challenge viewers with some strange riddles about the world we live in. Riddles that are explored include:1. How is a beauty pageant contestant like a crack dealer? 2. How is an abortion like a prison? The authors say this riddle begins 30 years ago, when crime in much of America seemed out of control. 3. Can you put a price on looks? And if so, how can you test that? 4. If you were giving to charity, would you give more or less depending on who showed up at your door? 5. How is a child's car seat like a DVD player? The car seats protect children in car crashes. How would a DVD player do that? 6. How are consumers like Tamarin monkeys? 7. How is a black straight-A student like a Hollywood celebrity? Anchor: John Stossel This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media. Amazon.com's standard return policy will apply.

| Customer Reviews: Perfect for teachers of Economics! September 12, 2009 D. Duval (Portland, OR United States) Wow! I loved the book, and I found the video to be very useful in showing my high school Economics students that Economics isn't boring!
Great video April 27, 2009 Lauren Quick As someone who did not read the book i was pleasently surprised. This movie kept my attention and made me realize things about the world which we live in. The most surprising statement that they made was how most people dont instal child carseats correctly. At first i thought this would be another one of those videos the teachers showed just to keep you busy, but it wasnt. I actually enjoyed it. The video made some very god points and really made me think about the statements that were made. Now after watching it, i think i may go and read the book.
"It's Freaky...and it's economics!!" April 27, 2009 mph (Essex, CT USA) Having read the book some time ago, this documentary was a great refresher and a great supplement to the book. It was entertaining to see the man behind the economy--lisp and all. Some of the comparisons were a little out there: "How is a child's car seat like a DVD player", but each issue was looked at from a perspective one would not immediately expect. Unfortunately, the program is narrated by the infamous John Stossel. His condescendingly irritating style of interview and narration is the reason why I give it only three stars.
I read it all on the back cover... April 26, 2009 Steve This DVD seems as if it is trying way too hard to prove things that are completely obvious to everyone as soon as they simply hear them, like the segment on the "price on looks". We all know that blondes have more fun, we do not need to hear about the intensive process they went through to come to a conclusion that we've already known to be true since the second grade!
I did not like it, and would not waste my money on it. My suggestion? Go to a bookstore, pick up a copy of Freakonomics, and read the back cover. It'll tell you more than you'll learn if you had bought this DVD, and you'll save [...] bucks.
As great as the book! November 7, 2007 nbh323 (Woodstock, IL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a fan of the book "Freakonomics," I purchased this DVD to show to my high school Economics class. It was a big hit and did a great job highlighting some of the more entertaining chapters in the book. It is a great hook into the field of Economics which so many erroneously refer to as the "dismal science." Freakonomics goes a long way at un-dismalizing it!
