To encourage safe night-time activities, the MDR-G57Gs come with a reflective ear piece. They are also water-resistant, completing the necessary checklist for full-function sports headphones. The behind-the-neck style is also appropriate for urban and casual wear; remember that with this style you can wear a hat while wearing the headphones. The MDR-G57Gs were designed for extended wear, and, weighing in at under two ounces, you may indeed forget you are wearing headphones. Sony has installed several technical features to the headphones to ensure a quality listening experience. The thirty millimeter drive units are large for portable headphones, and deliver deep bass, low distortion and a wide frequency response range (16 - 20,000 Hz). Sony's Acoustic Turbo circuit achieves high sonic output by utilizying sound chamber and duct technology. Ferrite magnets give the headphones solid energy at a minimal size and weight, while the oxygen-free copper cord provides high conductivity and minimum noise. The gold-plated stereo mini-plug makes sure that sound is transported fully and accurately. The gold-plated treatment also helps resist corrosion and supports the headphones' high conductivity and low noise. The five foot long, single-sided cord is plenty long for active pursuits. Love the sound; hatet he ear-cushions March 3, 2010

The sound on these are excellent; the only problem is the fact that after a few months the ear-cushions wear away. These come with an additional pair but it would be nice if the integrity of the ear cushions were of better quality/a fabric of better integrity to begin with.

love these headphones .. i found they have alot better bass if you take off the foam pads . love this headset with my new Coby MP-600 mp3 player , amazing sound in a small package. to have music anywhere on demand that will play and play and play is so nice .. that mp3 player lasts like 25 hrs i swear . awsome combo
have loved sony audio products for some time now .. and theres GOOD reason .. Sonys rock plain and simple .. top of the line audio sound at affordable prices.

I'm going to keep this review vary simple. The comfort I think depends greatly on how your ears are located on your head, for me they are pretty comfortable. Also them little things that keep them on your ears tare them off (like everyone has done with this type of head phone), "they" are what's uncomfortable. Sound quality is perfectly acceptable for "new music" at this price. I mean I don't care how good your head phones or speaker are if the source is crap your going to hear crap. Light weight and don't want to move around any while on your head but not so much if you want to sit back and relax.
I got them for computer use and they lasted 6 years now, the foam has even come off of them and they are still comfortable (sort of...). For around $20 that's pretty dang good in my book.

These fit snugly and are reasonably comfortable for extended periods but the earpieces get sweaty and cumbersome during long workouts. I was reasonably impressed with the bass compared to the other 3 or 4 on-the-ear headphones in this price range I've tried. These are my backup pair when I can't find other headphones. For times when I don't need sports headphones, I'll probably use buds. For sports, the ones where the little speaker fits sideways into the ear seem to work better for me.

Headphones appear to have been built with sturdy parts and construction. The wire feeding into the headphones have been reinforced at the speaker connection so that it doesn't come loose (which is what happened to my last pair of Sennheiser PMX60 Headphones after 2-years of regular use).
Sound quality is above average, but doesn't stand out from all the rest that would allow me to give it 5 stars. However, bass quality is crisp and has been able to play certain songs containing heavy bass without any of the crackling that I used to hear in prior headphones that cost twice as much.
Comfort: In the beginning, a bit tight around the ear. But the headphones seemed to have molded itself to my ear after about 4-5 uses. Now fits snug, with no chance of them slipping off. They wrap around the back of the neck, rather than the back of the head like most other headphones. This helps when you want to rest your head against a headrest on a plane.
Finally, the design of these headphones also placed some emphasis on style. Color combination (Grey with small orange reflector), along with it's "Street Style" is unique and stands out in a subtle way.
