5 out of 5 stars Excellent Precision Mouse   March 20, 2010
Guido Struben
This mouse is very accurate at all times.

It feels very comfortable and the interchangeable grips allow the width to be adjusted.

The weight tray is a nice touch for adjusting the weight of the mouse.

The scroll wheel feels and works very well.

The only con for me is that there's no option to switch to a wireless mode with this mouse.

4 out of 5 stars Will last longer than your hand/wrist   March 14, 2010

I've had this mouse since it was first released. It's seen almost constant use, and I've run into some of the same things others have mentioned, but this mouse is incredibly durable. First, I love that you can customize the color of the LEDs, and that you can customize the buttons and adjust the sensisitivity on the fly. However, I was comming off of a RAZER mouse after mine broke, and for the time that it worked, I was spoiled by some of the great features of the RAZER Deathadder mouse.

Unlike the G9, any of the Deathadder buttons could be assigned to act just like the CTRL key, even when pressing and HOLDING it. The G9 does not allow press-and-hold CTRL key macros. (i.e.: with Deathadder I could hold a mouse button and tap a keyboard number to do Ctrl+1, Ctrl+2, etc, to only use one finger on keyboard) Also that made "Ctrl+X", "Ctrl+Z", etc. easier, cause it only took up 1 mouse button to do anything w CTRL. (and yes, the G9 can use macros that combine CTRL key with some other buttons, so you could assign one "ctrl+Z" etc, but you'd need a new button for each thing: you can't HOLD a key and have it register as down)

I also had the same issue with the skin peeling off of the "rough" mouse cover plate, BUT, the rubberized mouse cover seems to be lasting much better. The Deathadder mouse had the same texture feel as the rubberized plate of the G9.

THE PROBLEM: THE RAZER DEATHADDER MOUSE WAS 1000X MORE COMFORTABLE THAN THE G9. The G9 just doesn't "FEEL" right. If you went mouse-shopping in the dark and couldn't see how cool the G9 looked, you would never buy it. It is incredibly responsive though, so it is a tough call.

In the end, I do not recommend the G9 because of the ergonomics, it is just too PAINFUL, but I CANNOT THROW IT OUT BECAUSE IT JUST WON"T BREAK!!! If you need a mouse for an extremely abusive environment, get the G9, but don't blame me if your wrist wears out before the G9 does. I hope Logitech comes out with a new mouse that is better than their G5/7/9, that has the customizable LEDs and also has more HIGHLY customizable button macros, and FEELS BETTER to use. Until then, I might have to check back on RAZER and see if their new mice have fixed some of the durability issues and the weird fixed-USB-assignment thing. In the end, comfort really does matter, so don't settle for this one. Go to the brick&mortor store to try them out and find one that feels better. I'll still give it 4 stars for it's extreme durability, which seems uncommon in this day-and-age.

i sue this mouse mainly to play video games on my computer but because of its comfort, i like using it instead of the touchpad on my laptop

5 out of 5 stars G9 Mouse   February 28, 2010
BONES (Long Island, NY)
Good mouse. It's design relieves most of the cramping in my hand. My previous mouse was Lachesis, a great mouse but not enough ergonomic design like the G9. I like the extra weights, and wish it were a bit larger, or had a larger collar that I could encase the mouse in. Leave it to Logitech to get better and better with zero installation hassle.

4 out of 5 stars great mouse   February 25, 2010
Psilo (Chula Vista, California United States)
bought this mouse as a replacement for an old standard microsoft optical mouse i have been using for several years. it's a great upgrade. i've been using it for several months now.
Pros: buttons have a good feel, the changeable grips are real nice. for gaming i went for the more textured and smaller profile grip.
i'm a casual gamer so i don't know if i get a huge advantage using the included weights. i may add in some of the weights later on to see how it feels.
the extra buttons are nice and the wheel is solid.
Cons: after setting up my configuration based on what application is running (sensitivity, LED color, etc) it doesn't seem to switch between the profiles when i run applications(i set different LED colors for different applications). this is probably a software issue that may also be user error, but i feel like i shouldn't have to put in a ton of effort to get this feature to work properly.
since i am used to always having the same sensitivity no matter what application is running, i haven't taken the time to really solve the problem.
it's probably a simple fix but i haven't put in the time to resolve it.
overall it's a great mouse with a great feel. one can change sensitivity on the fly and it feels well made.
the more i use it the more i like it, at first i had to get used to the shape, but that's because i was used to my old mouse, not because this mouse has an odd shape.
