Hi,
I have to return my kindle as it is not working properly. There is a dark stripe going down the middle of it and I can't read the writing and I will be sending it back to amazon.

I was excited to get my kindle. I have so many books and they really take up a lot of space in my home. The kindle allows me to load virtual books that take up no physical space. So far I have read 9 books with the kindle and I love it. My friends are very impressed with it and how easy it is to use. I can take it anywhere and the selection of media you can download on it is astounding! You can't go wrong buying a kindle in my opinion.

My husband bought me a Kindle last year for my birthday. I am NOT a techie, but I really like to read while we travel, so this seemed like a good idea. I LOVE this thing! It's easy to use, and I can take it every where! I use it to look up meanings of words, I check out the bestseller list, I can download samples of books. It's so fun! I know it's a little pricey, but so are books that are in print. I can keep these books with me all in one place, and re-read them any time! Wise investment for me.

First, let's get this out of the way: The DRM is disgraceful; if you buy a book you should own it. Minus one star. That said, I confess I often use the Kindle App on my iPod Touch. I bought the Kindle 2 for my 85-year-old arthritic mother who was having trouble getting comfortable while reading books of any appreciable size. She loves the 6" Kindle, and has no trouble with any of the buttons, including the 5-way. Mom, while capable of doing simple things on her computer, is not a techno-whiz. But she is motivated enough on this that I expect her to be buying her own Kindle books soon, without my help. It really is a nicely made, simple, intuitive device. For someone like Mom I recommend downloading the manual from Amazon and printing out at least the first five chapters: reading the manual on the Kindle 2 when it's set for large type is tedious, and some people aren't comfortable doing extensive reading on a desktop or laptop. I also bought the Amazon leather cover, which Mom also likes a lot.
