shipped as promised, in good condition when it arrived. Easy to use and program for wake up alarm and/or light. Charges quickly and holds a charge for quite a few uses. I find that it does seem to help my overall mood when I use it, and I can tell when I dont. The price couldn't be beat anywhere and I will use my blu-light on a regular basis from now on ...

I had high hopes for the this product and was not disappointed (at first). I found the directions fairly easy to follow, the light itself is a perfect size and all was perfectly perfect for the first 2 weeks... Then the battery needed charging after just a couple of 15 minute sessions. Clearly this was a defective unit and I returned it to Amazon for a full refund.

I was really excited about this light because of the blue light, the size, touch screen, etc. but I was disappointed after using it for a few weeks. For starters, I didn't like that the touch screen was right below the light and that the default setting was 100%. I'm not sure where else they could put the touch screen, but I saw someone mention it should've been on the back. I agree that would've been much better even though it may look a little strange. It was really easy to use though and I didn't have to read the manual. I ended up returning it after a few weeks though because I didn't notice any difference in my mood, SAD, or energy level.

Philips provided great information on the product, but I found many users seem to misunderstand the design and I would like to review the product itself. Although it has worked as advertised for me effectiveness will vary, product design will not.
Blue Light is designed to mimic the summer sky. Unless you're looking right at the sun, you're getting blue light from the sky. Research has shown that this blue light is what's effecting our bodies so positively. Blue Light therapy is like taking the old light boxes and blocking everything but the blue. It's just as effective without being as big and bright. Just like our eyes take in skylight from all around us, they take in the goLite from the side. It's not safe or beneficial to look directly at it. It's important to remember this is a therapy device, not a miracle cure. There is plenty of research showing that summer blue sky light improves mood and energy, but that doesn't mean it will work equally for everyone.
The Philips goLITE:
It lights up the room about as much as my lamp, but when sitting next to my computer at 50% intensity provided a soft and effective blue glow. Visible but not distracting, you could actually set it to provide therapy during your morning coffee every day and never have to mess with it. I found the controls to be intuitive, but would compare them to setting a sports watch. When you only have four buttons you will have to hold two down till something blinks to set the time or 12/24hr modes, but alarm, timer and brightness were simple and easy to set and adjust. Alarm or timer will toggle what you're setting, while + or - change settings. It actually came with some battery power and the correct time. The alarm is moderately loud, and will go off again in a minute if not turned off right away. Without the alarm, pushing the power button once will turn on the screen, then either the power or + buttons will turn on the light. Putting my hand over it was sufficient to block the light during use so I could look at the countdown timer, but pressing the power button will also pause it for 5 minutes before turning off, holding it briefly will turn the unit off immediately. The included directions were accurate and easy to understand.
Overall, I found the product easy to use. The clock and timer help provide consistency in treatment, the diffuser and battery add convenience and it's size and gentle glow make it unobtrusive. It's simple to set and use, measuring just over 5"x5"x1" and under a pound with its case. In my opinion this is the best designed light therapy box on the market, but since it doesn't have a sunrise feature opinion could vary. I purchased it over other models for the battery life, light diffuser, and it's ability to come on at a preset intensity instead of 100%. I disagree with the negative comments, finding it to be particularly well designed for its intended use.

A woman at work talked aboutt his. She was using it for SAD. Bought one and it is great! I set it to wake me with light 1/2 an hour before my usual wakeup time. Feeling more energetic. Great product. Easy to set up.
