I have owned this mop since March 2009. I'm not really certain the steam ever gets past the thick microfiber pads. Yes, the pad gets wet, but I could 'clean' my floor with a wet towel and it wouldn't really be clean without a chemical to go along with the water. I can see the steam come out when I pump the handle, but the pad is never more than slightly warm.
I have travertine floors. I sweep and use a dry Swifter before I use the Shark Steam Mop. I have to say that the microfiber pad shows definate evidence of picking up grime, but given the chance, I'd have bought something else.

This mop worked great for about three uses. Will not steam anymore. Did not try to contact customer service because I refuse to pay shipping fees for a piece of junk like this! Looking at other steam mops now.

I purchased this product at Costco. We used it to replace our Swiffer because we were tired of trying to track down the expensive proprietary cleaning fluid. It was used exclusively on laminate floors. It worked OK for a few months, at least it did what we had purchased it to do. One day it stopped heating. Done, dead. We're not going to buy a replacement because there are other makes and models available that have better reviews.

I used it right away and found out it was really hard to push. Hmm, the steam came out now and then. So, I didn't give up and used it again and got horrible streaks! Ok, well I gave it the benefit of the doubt and used it a 3rd time. But where was the steam? I was just pushing water (which was leaking out) and that was it. Huge WASTE of MONEY, which they get to keep! I tried it a 4th, 5th and 6th time. I kept hoping it would finally kick in.
I tried contacting customer service and they wanted to charge me to figure out what was wrong with their machine. Just terrible! DO NOT BUY THIS. They are making money off of you and probably smiling all the way to the bank.
By the time you pay shipping, your time, etc. to send it back (you need a law degree for this), just forget it. You would be throwing your money away yet again. So, I threw this in the dump. It is gone, just like the money I threw away in the first place by buying this when the TV AD made it look so "useful". I am amazed that they can get away with this. They must work with the government with pay offs. Sad!
