| Editorial Reviews:
Seether returns with another workaday outing that rocks like late 2001. Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces is virtually interchangeable with any previous Seether disc, as well as pretty much anything by the likes of Nickelback, Shinedown, and other "post-grunge" rock bands. True, "Fake It" has zeal, and "Rise Above This" may very well provide the soundtrack to late-night, soul-searching sessions for teenagers from Cape Cod to Cape Town. Shaun Morgan's often unnecessarily profane lyrics are another problem. Witness the gauche "FMLYHM," which borrows from lyrical ideas that sounded novel when Trent Reznor sang them in "Closer" more than a decade ago but now just sound juvenile and unnecessarily angry. Same goes for the numbing epic "No Jesus Christ" and the closer, "Waste." Throughout, the band shows a lack of imagination that may ultimately prove fatal. In all, this is cookie-cutter rock that really doesn't. --Jedd Beaudoin

Better than expected. Excellent music. Received quickly. March 4, 2010 Norma J. Knabel (Phoenix, AZ) This is the first CD we purchased for this band and they are awesome. They should be getting more air time on the radio. Power packed.........hard driving rock and roll!!!
Great Album...Not as "Great" as "Disclaimer". Glad I Don't have to put Careless Whisper on My MP3 Player! January 10, 2010 Jimi Mack (San Francisco Peninsula) This is a great addition to the very small Seether catalog, and a wonderful piece of music that'll enhance anyone's harder edged music collection. Since most people that I know are really narrow minded when it comes to Hard Rock or Metal, this may be a great album to play in these people presence, as kind of a, "Whoops, how did this get on?" And see if they'll like it. It's very catchy and every song is very listenable. I was fortunate enough to buy the disc before Careless Whisper was included. The first time I heard this added song on Sirus' Octane, I couldn't stand it, and it never did grow on me. Luckily, it's not a bonus song that I'd have to go out and buy, just to make my collection complete. I don't even want the song on my MP3 player.
I'm not giving 4 stars for the inclusion of Careless Whisper, I'm giving it because of the Seether rip-off tactics that they've used over the span of their career. I know that the record companies push to promote and to make money, which is the reason they are in business anyway, but I'm so tired of having to have to buy a CD all over again to get the extra-song or the expanded edition or the acoustic version. This has happened with other bands too. Just check out Flyleaf and Blue October for a few examples. Seems like the late comers always get the bonuses and the fans just get pinched for more money. This is not cool!
Great album though. Just wish there wouldn't be such a gap between this bands releases. Kinda hard to keep them in your mind when album come so far apart.

FORMER FAN disappointed September 3, 2009 Hsxeric (Michigan) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Loved their debut album, which was different than all the other lame alt-rock at the time (Shinedown, Crossfade, Three Days Grace). Shaun a great voice, but he can't write memorable songs anymore. This was shown on their so-so second disc a few years ago and is shown again with their new one, which sounds like every other lame radio-rock band out there (something Seether used to never come close to doing).
