Diggin' the new "Let the Dominoes Fall" February 21, 2010 The Dude Rancid, is one of my (3) favorite bands of ALL times, (Less Than Jake & Goldfinger)...
I have been a fan since "Lets Go". ...I like the new tracks on Dominoes.
I bought it the day it was released. I am just getting around to putting my comments online.
Yes, its not, "Lets Go" or "Out Come the Wolves", that was a much younger Rancid. Those tunes told the story of those young punks. The experiences those punks have gone through in the past 15 years are all over the Dominoes tracks. Its called Mother Nature. Whether you accept it or not, we are ALL getting older, some of us actually mature during the aging process...
This is a mature Rancid and a classic piece of work by Tim and the guys!
This is where they were, at that time, in their existence...
Tim's vocals are Rancid. Lars chunking GTR lines and Vocals lines are Rancid. Matt's ripping bass lines, are Rancid. ...and welcome to the band, Branden.
"Let the Dominoes Fall"
these are the tracks I think are standouts...
1) East Bay Night
2) This Place
3) Up To No Good
4) Last One To Die
5) Disconnected
7) Damnation
10)Bravest Kids
11)Skull City
13)Lulu
14)Let the Dominoes Fall
19)The Highway
My favorites are "Skull City", "Disconnected" and "Damnation"...
I am not a fan of Matt's vocals. They could have left that off the CD and I would not have minded a bit.
Also, I found Matt to be a bit mellow on a few of these tracks. Again, this is the way Matt felt for this CD. You have to respect that. These guys put their life experiences into their writing and musical performances, and they share it with us. If I want to hear Matt rip some killer bass lines, I have plenty of those tracks already on my iPod, I can hear it anytime!
It either moves you or it does not. (period)
But I can tell you, they are not sitting in a studio trying to recreate music from the past. They continue to move forward and this is where they are, now.
This CD is a great collection to my library. ...and at the moment, my favorite.
This CD is definitely worth the buy, just for the 19 tracks alone. But, as Rancid style, you get plenty of extras with the CD...
Oh, if anyone from Rancid actually reads these reviews, please stop making those black and white washed out videos. Its not pleasant to the eyes or mind.

What maturity February 15, 2010 Alonzo Garcia I have been a Rancid fan for many years. I have seen them in concert several times and enjoy the high energy that the 'Boys from the Bay' are capable of. That being said, I could not help but marvel at the maturity and consummate wholeness that this new album contains. The eloquence and introspect that are presented here rival that of any in the genre. I was moved by virtually every song here and even more so with the addition of the acoustic versions. Hats off to you! Rancid rocks in ways that other bands could only hope to. Great album, well produced and full of that unique sound only Rancid brings.
BEST OF '09 - RANCID "LET THE DOMINOES FALL" December 6, 2009 Brian D. Ives (Fair Lawn, NJ USA) "Let The Dominoes Fall," which sees Rancid returning to Epitaph after an album on a major label, and also sees Bad Religion guitarist/Epitaph boss Brett Gurewitz returning as their producer, is a classic. It's just fun, but deep and moving. I know that lots of indie bands like Pavement will invoke the term "punk rock," but to me this is punk rock with heart, soul and blood. Every word means something, every note is supposed to be there. Tons of great songs that I can't wait to hear live. The expanded version features a bonus disc with acoustic (or demo) versions of the songs. Few of the songs exceed three minutes, but one of the more suprising ones, "Civilian Ways," breaks four. It's an acoustic ballad about a soldier who comes back from the Middle East, and nothing is the same. It brings a lump to my throat. Totally non-partisan and really moving. I wish more people would hear this song - and this album. But the blogs and the media are looking elsewhere. Luckily for you, you're reading this. Now go and check this album out.

new fan? DONT GET THIS ALBUM!!! October 28, 2009 rich nasty (Santa Barbara, CA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just got this the other day and it sucked. Don't get me wrong, I grew up on Rancid and have some of their lyrics tattooed on my body, but unlike all their other albums where tim and lars switch off vocals respectively, lars doesn't take up the lead until track 5, where its a split with tim, and then not again til much later. Unlike creating an awesome, unique, intelligent sound which Indestructible(2003) is known for, this record sounds like they're trying to emulate the later Clash and focused more on Tim Armstrong then the band as a whole, just look at the cover. If you heard a song off this album and loved it, get it. But if your a new fan, this is NOT the legendary punk band you're looking for. Check out the earlier stuff when they still had the energy, Lets Go(1994), ...And Out Come the Wolves(1995), or their self titled albums(1993 and 2000) and don't ruin it for yourself early.
The Classic Rancid Sound October 1, 2009 Alyssa Let The Dominoes Fall is a great CD. To me, it has the classic Rancid sound, even with addition of a new drummer. It seems they took all the sounds from previous albums and combined it into one. From the ska sounding Life Won't Wait, to the more hardcore Rancid (Skull Cover), Let The Dominoes Fall has it all, and is a must have for any Rancid fan.
