Product Description The stretchy woven fabric of the Columbia Mens Shelbys Softshell Jacket flexes and adapts to your every move which gives you freedom and mobility as you hike, cross country ski, snowshoe, or practice Chinese acrobatics in the backcountry. A fleece lining wicks moisture away from your body and transfers it to the outer shell where it can evaporate. Columbia designed the Shelbys Softshell to block wind and water so that you dont have to retreat indoors once those dark clouds roll in.

Dad loved it July 7, 2010 mike Yeah, my dad loved it. He wears it all winter. Something I did didn't suck.
Best Jacket Ever August 6, 2009 P. Kent (NJ) Seriously this is the best jacket ever. You can wear it with everything and it looks good, especially if you get the black. It's never too warm if the sun is out and besides in freezing weather you will not be cold. It is also water resistant so when it rains you will stay dry- unless its pouring out in which case you should be wearing a rain jacket or using an umbrella anyways.
Great jacket for wide ranging temperatures July 4, 2009 Jacklyn Lim Sing The softshell jacket is great since it protects you from wind, very low temperature but at the time, continue to be wearable when it's not super cold.
Lightweight and Warm April 12, 2009 WYM (Singapore) I was looking for a lightweight warm and wind proof jacket to be use in the datacentre with temperature set at 17C with three air-conditioner fan in full blast just next to me, so the temperature is probably much lower. I live in a tropical country, and such temperature is really cold for me.
I was able to sustain in that environment for about 2-3 hours before having to leave for a short break.
I am an asian at about 1.8 m, 90Kg the XL is slightly large for me. The measurement stated on the jacket label tags also differs from that provided by Amazon Size & Measurement Web page.
e.g. the tag from jacket depicts that XL is for chest measuring 42-44 instead of 44-46.
I am very please with this jacket as it offer similar warmth as compare to other jackets that are heavier and thicker
Stylish, warm, and lightweight January 5, 2009 L. Paulsen 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This coat is incredibly light weight, but very warm compared to just a fleece-type Columbia jacket (which I had before). This coat has become my everyday coat, and it works great - I'm not sure how it holds up to skiing or snowboarding conditions.
The inside material is a thin fleece, not the long, blanket style fleece, which interacts with my inside clothes much less than the other fleece jacket I had before. The outside material is a glossy polyester, almost looks like a dull black satin. Water brushes of this material easily.
Pockets are double-sided, accessible from the outside through zipper pockets and through the inside pouch-style pockets.
Zipper is quite large, and the zipper handle can flip over to rest inside the coat - a feature of many ski and snowboard coats.
The bottom of the coat can be left loose for a modern, stylish look, or it can be bunched up using the built-in elastic band for a more snug fit.
The ends of the sleeves are controlled by a light elastic which hangs a bit loose, and it cannot be adjusted, which may be a turn-off for certain buyers. For my purposes, it is not an issue.
Good, quality Columbia coat, as usual.
