This Waterpro runs fast wet or dry-a prime candidate for canyoneering as mesh upper drains automatically via ports in micro mesh upper and in antimicrobial footbed. I had the same experience as another reviewer. The nylon straps that anchor the laces are secured by black cords, and these cords sliced through the nylon straps. To look at my pair, you would think they were new, but with those straps broken it is impossible to lace them up, so they can't be worn. I strongly recommend against these shoes.

I purchased two pair of these shoes at the same time because I suffer from my feet getting overly warm and the open weave on the tops is perfect for the level of ventilation my feet needed. They also work very well in situations where I have walked through water and they drain well and dry in a reasonable amount of time. This said the complaints about the cloth webbing breaking when the laces are pulled are warranted. I quickly tore through on the first pair and had to rig a system of circumventing this to continue to use the shoes with reasonable success. On the second pair I exercised more caution in not tugging hard on the laces and using a gentle steady pull and the cloth webbing lasted a lot longer but did ultimately break. I am currently looking to order another pair or two due to the ventilation properties I need but will have to decide on a new strategy to make the webbing last longer. Be aware that both pairs are worn out on the soles after long use so the lace problem can be circumvented with a little ingenuity but suffer no illusions that the webbing will not break if you are careful.... forget about that strategy in MHO.

Bought this shoe for a very specific purpose: comfort. I was going on a trip to Paris for eleven days, and I knew I was going to be walking at least five miles each day around the city going from monument to museum to sight. The most important aspect of the shoe I needed was comfort and I heard from a couple of friends about Merrell. I decided to give these a try after I wore them at a shoe store and they felt great.
They were marvelous! After eleven days of heavy walking on all types of terrain from brick to cement to gravel and cobble stone, I felt nothing by the end of each night. My feet were always comfortable and never ached, which was a god send since I have bad heels from standing all day at work.
The shoes are light and have a nice sporty look to them, so if you're looking for a cool style, these are great.
The one thing I'd be cautious about is that since these shoes are made for wet conditions as well, they may be the wrong shoe in cold weather. There are mesh sections that allow the inside of the shoe to breathe and extract water to keep the shoe as dry as possible. With cold weather your feet will feel the lower temperature, but if you must just double up on your socks to keep warm.
Other than that, I'm extremely happy with these shoes. You can't go wrong with them and you better buy now before they are gone since these are an old model.
Must buy.

I bought these shoes in August of '08 and wore them practically everyday. I have worn these shoes to work, run, bike, and worke out. I needed water shoes since I have to work around a pool, hot tub, and showers. They held up perfectly until this past weekend when our German Shepherd puppy bit one of the yellow outside straps. They still can be worn but difficult to tighten. I am quickly scrambling for a replacement pair. I would recommend this shoe to everyone who likes to wear shoes.
