Product Description BRISK BREW - ZELCO (ACCESSORY)
Amazon.com Review Ideal for travel and the office, this miniature drip coffeemaker makes it possible to brew an 8-ounce cup of coffee anywhere there's an electrical outlet. Because it can be switched between 120 and 240 volts it operates worldwide. Clad in rugged plastic, the coffeemaker is lightweight and measures just 2-1/2 inches wide, 6 inches high, and 5 inches deep. That means it fits into a briefcase, purse, or any size luggage. The coffeemaker forms part of a complete coffee-drinker's kit that includes two little plastic containers for bringing along coffee, tea, sugar, or powdered creamer; a 3-1/2-inch telescoping spoon; and a cup with handle. The containers and spoon store in the water tank next to the removable filter holder, which contains a permanent nylon filter, and the cup doubles as a lid to keep everything in place. This little machine is also great for making hot water for tea, hot chocolate, and instant soup, and it comes with a nylon travel pouch. --Fred Brack

My Zelco Portable Coffee Maker is Great! No more Bad Hotel Coffee for me July 26, 2008 Michael Vorel (Tampa, Florida) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2MES9ZAWKOQ7B I love my Zelco Brisk Brew Coffee Maker. It's the perfect solution for individual coffee while traveling around the world. I am a coffee fanatic and have tried immersion heaters, instant coffee (yikes), travel bodums and more for making coffee in hotel rooms. I waited 5 years to buy this and never could justify until last week.
I ordered it from Amazon and is a must have for the coffee lover. In the video I show you what comes in the box and how it brews (no one showed me so I am showing you!). The concept is very similar to making your own Keurig k-cup in that you fill a small basket with your own coffee and the hot water passes thru for your own personal cup of coffee. It takes a few minutes but the end result is that I can make strong coffee with my beans when I want and were I want. Enough said! cheers and don't believe the anti-reviewers as I am fully versed in coffee makers, espresso machines, coffee roasting and run 60secondcoffee.com. I bought this from Amazon and so should you!
Ahhh! MY morning coffee on the road! May 22, 2008 T. Smith-Wright (Indiana) My morning just isn't "right" unless I have coffee in hand while I get ready. I also use a blend of 1/2 decaf and 1/2 regular for the sake of my stomach. The coffee provided by so many hotels will cause stomach issues for me. And like so many other reviewers, I was disgusted by the lack of coffee in my Vegas hotel rooms. I hated getting cleaned up enough to go stand in line for an overpriced cup to take back to the room. Realizing that I'd be there for a third time in six months, I had to take action. Research led me to this little Zelco. I couldn't be happier!
It came in well packaged. Very simple to put together.
I took to heart the advice of others to try out before traveling with it and was glad I did. It took a little practice to get the right amount of coffee plus grind plus bean to get that "right" cup of coffee.
It truly is small. It takes up less space than my make-up bag and I'm no "glamour girl".
It also comes with little (I do mean little) storage containers and a collapsable spoon. I didn't use the containers. It didn't seem like they'd hold more than a day or two of coffee--but I didn't really check it out closely. The little spoon is handy for using with the coffee-maker and stiring in you favorite additives, but that's it. It isn't sturdy enough for anything else.
It is a bit on the messy side for cleaning up. The little basket that holds the coffee is a challenge to get all the grounds out of. I generally emptied most in the trash and then just put more coffee in to make the next cup. I didn't do a complete clean up until done for the morning. I took an old toothbrush and used a little of my shampoo for the "washing-up".
The start button is a little difficult to catch to the on postition, but seemed to work better as I continued to use the machine.
In our household, I'm the only coffee drinker, but I can imagine that it might be a bit challenging to make enough coffee to keep two people going in the morning. In that situation, it might be better to take two spare mugs so the you can continue to use the coffee-maker's cup to catch the brew.
It's very minor, but I was pleasantly surprised at how cleanly the cup poured when I used it to put water into the reservior. I would also pour the end of a cup into a glass so I could start the next cup. It never dripped (and I have trouble pouring a cup of coffee out of a pot without dripping all over!)
If you travel and want YOUR cup of coffee in the morning (or afternoon or night), I encourage you to make one of these your regular traveling companion.
Fantastic travel companion! May 18, 2008 Old Red (Hawaii) My wife and I travel outside the U.S. with some frequency. I purchased a Zelco 1-cup coffee maker about 3 years ago, and we have taken it to Asian and European countries where in many hotel rooms the most that can be expected is a way to heat water. This coffee maker has been a life-saver, from the standpoints of having a fresh cup of coffee in the morning and improving my wife's disposition. It has always functioned well, and it makes a great cup of strong coffee.
A previous review alluded to the on-off button not working. I have found that the button sometimes is "on" due to pressure against it by other items in my suitcase. After that first brew, it works just fine.
I love this little guy! April 24, 2008 Cate (San Francisco, CA United States) I have used the Zelco Brisk Brew for many years. If you take care of this coffeemaker, it will take care of you when you want to use it. I have used all grinds in this machine, even espresso, and it always comes up with a great cup of coffee. It's also great for making tea, just fill it up with water and leave the coffee filter off. It's so compact that you can easily pack it and take it with you wherever you go!
Nice little gadget March 26, 2008 N. Rivera (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was very surprised with this coffee maker! It makes great coffee. You have to practice a lot though to make it right. It has a very bad feature, which is that if you fill the filter all the way you end up with a mess everywhere and coffee grounds in your coffee. It's very lightweight, dual voltage and comes with its own pouch and accesories. I'm a flight attendant and I've used it already in foreign countries. It doesn't take much space in my suitcase. I totally recomend it but I give you heads up about trying it many many times before you go on a trip.
